Would anyone be interested in a Google+ Hangout to catch up on what everyone's doing with Jojo and what ideas people have?

I don't know what specifically when it would happen, we'd talk about, if it would have a structure, if it'd be public or any of the other details... but if people are interested we could work them out.

This only occurred to me just now, so I'm horribly under prepared (I would need to buy a mic).

We could maybe even make it a monthly thing if it goes well.

Would anyone like to bounce ideas around, have a general catch up about where Jojo is going or anything else?

Sounds like a great idea. Count me in. With enough notice should be able to do any time.

Unfortunately evenings (round 6pm or later) would suit me best due to currently having a day job. Is this an issue for anyone?

I hadn't really thought about it until after I made the original post.

After 6 is fine for me. Preferably not Monday's though.

Wednesday the 4th or Thursday the 5th next week too soon for anyone. Say 6:30pm NZ time.

Don't know how the hangouts work yet though.

The 4th and 5th are both good for me. The time too.

It's been a while since I've used them so it might've changed. But Hangouts are pretty easy... someone starts a Hangout then (if it's set to private) invites others to join. You might need the Google Talk Audio/Video plugin installed if you don't already.

I'm happy to take point if people want. I'm "Rick Hambrook" on Google+ and can just make a public post on Google+ and start a Hangout from there as well as drop a direct link in this thread at the same time.

If someone else would prefer to do this then they're more than welcome.

Also... Comment #2000.

Awesome that means I get 2001 - The Comment Odyssey...

So Wednesday 6:30pm then?

Rick to start it.

Looking forward.

Wed 4th sounds grand.
I made a Google+ page for Jojo CMS here
I think if you add it to one of your circles then we ought to be able to find one another..

Tom, shall I leave it to you create a Hangout post on the Jojo CMS page on Wednesday the 4th since you're an admin for the page?

We've finished up so here's a wrap-up...

We had Tom, Jaijaz, Antony and Rick. Looks like you couldn't make it, Harvey. Sorry if we accidentally scheduled you out of availability. We'll make sure to get you in the next one.

Google+ Hangouts aren't quite ready for us yet. Might've been because we tried "Hangouts with Extras", or might be something else. Skype worked great though.

We're pushing forward with a release within the next week or so. Everyone's pretty happy with how stable the branch is now that a release will provide a solid base while we can more freely push ahead with potentially breaking updates. Everyone has decent changes they want to commit but after the release. The exception being Rick's Asset File Caching change which has been committed because of [s]peer pressure[/s] unanimous vote.

Both Tom and Jaijaz mentioned anticipated changes/plugins they've got coming once a new release has been pushed but I'll leave it to them to announce these as they please. I don't want to steal their thunder.

Jojo is moving to GIT with Jaijaz setting it up on GitHub sometime soon. Jaijaz provided links for anyone unfamiliar with GIT. See Git Immersion and a GIT Cheat Sheet.

Everyone is interested in a way to override a single function within a plugin without duplicating the entire file and losing/breaking upstream updates. Jaijaz and Antony mentioned that the Zend framework allows something similar to this so ideas are being batted around.

There was lots more, but this is what I can remember after having a break to have tea.

We're all keen to do this regularly... at least once a month sounded good.

I found another great resource for understanding Git... The Pro Git E-book is great for newbies as well as those migrating from SVN or CVS.

Everyone seemed pretty keen to do another hangout, who's keen/able next week? That puts it about a month after the last one.

Once again, evenings suit me, tues/wed/thurs are best. What about everyone else?

I hope you can make it this time, Harvey. We missed you last time.

Shall we try a Google Hangout again or go straight to Skype this time?

Sure thing. I don't think Google's had NZ bandwidths in mind with that service though. Wed or Thurs work best for me.
