So for the first time, the lightbox on the gallery3 plugin didn't just work as it normally does.

To cut a long story short, it was due to the fact that the site was still in development on the server and so had the siteURL of http://ipaddress/~accountname

The customhead function in the plugin calls the javascript using _PROTOCOL.$_SERVER['HTTP_HOST'] which doesn't recognize the ~accountname as being apart of the URL. I get why this is done, since I can imagine that some galleries might need https.

I'm wondering if the javascript and css needs to be behind the https as well?

The only thing I can think of is if browsers generate warnings for non-secure resources being requested from a secure page..

What might be preferable is to use smarty variables rather than constants, - ie {$siteurl} and make sure that the $siteurl includes the appropriate protocol (which I think it does) or {cycle values=$NEXTASSET} which I think also includes the appropriate protocol

there are global javascript variables available, siteurl and secureurl.

That mixed-SSL-content warning is a curse, so please be careful about using non-secure scripts on https pages.

It sounds like this plugin needs to be fixed. I forget how to do this exactly off the top of my head, but have a look at how jojo_core's head.tpl links to jquery etc, and copy that.
