So this isn't the first time I have seen this but in the past it has been related to forms and so I have been able to work around it.

The problem is that IE is ignoring the br tags on the page.
example at: http://deltatest.dreamhosters.com

I note that the jojocms.org pages work fine but this site as an example doesn't. However I can't see why. It is fine in FF and Safari.

Any thoughts anyone?

Jai

Could be a rare case of IE actually doing something intelligent :p
- is there any reason why you can't just mark the text up with <p> tags? I know Harvey's not fond of them (or at least doesn't appear to be) but I'm not sure why - is there some SEO reason for avoiding them?

..and that /infraenterprise.aspx?Lite&database=Support8 link is screwing your validation (not that i imagine that would be affecting anything)

I think p tags are better for accessibility reasons--screen readers etc--and semantically correct code is always best.

Making the bbcode editor use paragraphs would be a nice thought... it'd have to make sure it didn't wrap certain tags such as headings, lists, divs etc.

Anyway... I have no idea why IE is ignoring the br tags, it's got my curious now.

Also... Some of your pages don't have URLs specified, eg http://deltatest.dreamhosters.com/112/integrating-people-and-systems/

aaah - the bbcode editor.. Any reason why you don't use Xinha like a normal person? ;)

I'm not sure what Jai's excuse is, but I'm a fond user of TinyMCE and am yet to find a good groove with Xinha.

That and I'm too lazy to click the Fullscreen button each time :p

I just had a look at adding another wysiwyg editor into Jojo... Xinha's hardcoded all the way through, the option is there only to taunt me, lol. I guess I'll give Xinha another shot :)

some busy posting there. thanks to everyone.

I use bbcode cause it is simple, though not for my clients. Also got hooked through harvey.

In the early days of coming onto jojo Xinha wouldn't work for me so sort of left it alone. I will go back and have another look.

Thanks for all the comments.

Xinha is pretty good - it's a slow download for first use, but caches pretty well after that. The main issue with it is browser compatibilty -
Firefox doesn't do the Header dropdown properly
Mac Safari does weird things with the formatting (although it seems to have been fixed in 4).
There seem to have been a lot of IE commits, so that may work.
Windows Safari seems fine
Chrome works brilliantly
