Hi,
I'm wondering what the "many to many" tab is for (well i guess it is some sort of general linking table), how it works, and how it is meant to be cused in queries...
I'm trying to build my portfolio with jojo, and my tables are Film, Company, Shot...
thank you
glouk

The many-to-many is for setting up table relationships on fields in the editor.

You might use it if you had a product that could belong to many categories (and had a product, category, prod_cat_link type table structure).

It's used on the "Edit users" page for adding users to multiple groups. Have a look at the tabledata / fielddata settings for the groups field on the 'user' table and see if that makes sense. Otherwise it's probably something that should be documented anyway, actually quite a useful feature for custom plugins.

I just looked at the user table, and i think i understand the system...

I have 2 questions :

1. does this many-to-many allow for any simplification in mysql queries for the front-end ?

2. more generally, i have a hard time figuring out how to fit my project into jojo : i already have tables : films, shots, sfx companies, media. Each shot should mention film info, company info and have several media (probably flv). Should i build a module derived from article ? for each category ? How do i build the back-office for feeding info in these tables ?

Sorry about the mess of questions... I'm also a web developper and i've built back-offices from scratch, and here i'm quite sure using jojo could be a gain in productivity, however i just don't know where to start, i guess ;)

sorry also about my sometimes approximative english. I'm french ;)
