LIGHTTPD Installation

Installing Jojo CMS on Lighttpd is just as easy as on Apache.

lighttpd powers several popular Web 2.0 sites like YouTube, wikipedia and meebo. Its high speed io-infrastructure allows them to scale several times better with the same hardware than with alternative web-servers.

Lighttpd conf

Before you start you'll need to ensure lighttpd is setup for Jojo. You'll need PHP5 installed (I'll leave this up to you, but you've probably already done this.).

You'll also need mod_rewrite enabled, so open up the lighttpd config file in your favorite editor and check mod_rewrite is not commented out:
...
# "mod_redirect",
                              "mod_rewrite",
"mod_rrdtool",
...

Then you'll need to add a rewrite directive at the end of your config file.

If your site is going to be installed at http://exmaple.com then the directive will look like this:
url.rewrite-once = (
"^/(.*)$" => "/index.php?uri=$1"
)

If your site is going to be installed at http://example.com/mycoolsite then the directive will look like this:
url.rewrite-once = (
"^/mycoolsite/(.*)$" => "/mycoolsite/index.php?uri=$1"
)

Continue installation

Now just start/continue the installation as per normal. Jojo may create a .htaccess file for Apache during setup. Just ignore this as you've already create the rewrite directive that the .htaccess file sets up anyway.

Complete the installation and you're all ready to go.
